How to List Your Business Right & Avoid Rejection

To maintain a trusted, efficient, and professional platform for all our users, we enforce clear listing guidelines. These rules are designed to protect both sellers and serious buyers, ensuring a smooth and successful sales process.

Follow these rules to get your shop approved quickly and maximize your chances of a fast sale.

✅ DO THIS: Essentials for a Successful Listing
✔ Use REAL, Current Photos of the Business – Upload clear, high-quality photos you have taken yourself of the shop's interior, exterior, stock, and key equipment. This builds immediate trust with buyers.

✔ Provide an Accurate, Detailed Business Description – Be transparent and honest. Include:

Reason for sale: (e.g., relocation, pursuing other ventures).

Financial Performance: Provide clear, realistic figures (e.g., "Average monthly turnover of Ksh 80,000").

What's Included: Specify all assets included in the sale (furniture, equipment, stock, intellectual property).

Lease Details: Mention the remaining lease term and monthly rent, if applicable.

✔ Verify Your Identity and Authority to Sell – As the seller, you must be the legal owner, an authorized manager, or a verified agent acting on behalf of the owner. Be prepared to verify your identity if requested for high-value listings.

✔ Set a Realistic, Justified Asking Price – Your price should reflect the business's fair market value, considering its assets, profitability, location, and potential. Be prepared to explain how you arrived at the price.

✔ Be Responsive and Professional – Check your messages regularly and respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from verified buyers. A slow response can lose a serious sale.

❌ AVOID THIS: Grounds for Instant Rejection or Ban


🚫 Fake or "Bait-and-Switch" Listings – Listing a business that does not exist, using stock photos, or advertising a successful business that is actually failing. This leads to an immediate and permanent ban.

🚫 Duplicate or Spam Posts – Do not create multiple listings for the same business. We will keep the most complete and professional listing and remove the duplicates.

🚫 Requesting Upfront Payments Without Contract – It is illegal to ask potential buyers for a deposit or "reservation fee" before a formal sales agreement is in place. All financial transactions should be handled professionally and transparently.

🚫 Plagiarized or Vague Descriptions – Do not copy descriptions from other listings or online sources. Your description must be original and specific to your business. Avoid generic, uninformative text.

🚫 Illegal or Unlicensed Operations – We do not allow listings for businesses that operate illegally, without the necessary licenses from bodies like NEMA or the county government, or are involved in fraudulent activities.

⚠️ Why Was My Business Listing Rejected?
Common reasons for rejection include:

Poor Quality Photos: Blurry, dark, or too few photos that don't showcase the business.

Missing Critical Information: No clear asking price, vague location, or no mention of financial performance.

Suspicious Contact Details: Using personal Gmail/Yahoo addresses for what claims to be a corporate entity without explanation.

Unrealistic Pricing: An asking price that is drastically inflated without any justification in the description.

Use of AI-Generated Images: We verify listings, and using AI to generate fake photos of a non-existent shop will result in rejection.

🔒 Protect Yourself During the Sale Process
For Buyers:

Perform Due Diligence: Never transfer any money before visiting the business in person, verifying financial records, and checking the validity of all licenses and leases.

Use a Formal Contract: Engage a lawyer to draft or review the sales agreement to protect your interests.

For Sellers:

Verify Serious Buyers: Prioritize buyers who ask detailed questions and request to see documentation.

Be Transparent: Having your records organized builds trust and justifies your asking price.

Report Suspicious Activity: Flag any suspicious buyer behavior or scam attempts to us immediately.
